I would not say that he for Max value but he didn't give the players away. I give him a grade of B+,
At least he did better than Garth Snow, Dave No is, and Mike Gill is.

Actually, most of the assets were provided by Darcy Regier's trade for Vanek.

I really like Murray though. I trust him to rebuild this team.

I'm still in a little disbelief that they could not pry one top flight prospect out any of these deals especially for Miller........

I thought the TBD in the LA deal was Toffoli for a brief moment. That would have been great.

The trade market I guess was really for the buyers.... Or Murray got hosed cause he's a rookie.....

Actually GARTH the Sanres got very little value for these players. Especially Moulson.

Actually DOWN the SaBres got 4-5 first round picks in 2014 and 2015. Not bad for UFAs who could have just gone away with no return at end of season.

Think you guys went to heavy on the picks. Would of expected more prospects to help with a quicker turn around. Now your looking at 3 or so years before becoming relevant again.

He may be a rookie in terms of title but he's been in the business for a long time and is a better talent evaluator than half the league

Were going to be trading some of the picks away for roster players at the trade deadline. Murray all ready heavily hinted at that today.

Two 2nd round picks little value? Really? That's almost the same as Snow got for Vanek, and we got Moulson for Vanek plus a 1st and a 2nd. I know Darcy did the first part, but Murray did well.

I couldn't disagree more on todays moves. With the Kings trade. We gave up a 5-6 defenseman for a 3 year AHLer with little upside (180gm = 50pts) & a 18yo 4th rounder whom you hope becomes a NHL caliber player. PLUS (2) 2nd rounders. Which in part were the key pieces of the Leopold / Regehr trades. So now we have in effect given up 3 NHL defensemen for 2 prospects. Moulson should have gotten more than a couple second rounders. Come on Darcy got the same for Regehr. Plus the Halak deal just makes the Miller deal weaker. Halak is a starting goalie & we settled for a back-up goalie & a washed up d-man.

This just in Terry Pegula's prviate jet carrying all the players from today's trades just crashed. The bad news is that nobody was found alive. The good news is that luckily for the Sabres there were no NHL'ers aboard.

I missed the blog where Garth said the Sabres would get that for Halak, actually I missed him saying that about any of those guys. Making it up doesn't make it real. I'll give you a pass considering the possibility you were in a drunken stupor when you wrote that.

well we had deals on the table for drew doughty and ovechkin but they wouldn't waive their no trade clause. If you aren't up for the rebuild, jump off the bandwagon and give us REAL fans more elbow room. Murray is doing good with what he has and if you don't understand these moves, you don't understand hockey

Your way off base in bassicaly every single thing you just said so let me break it down for you. First off I'll admit I was a little bit skeptical at first on McNabb trade as well. Knew nothing about the prosects and the fact that we gave up 2 seconds for a 4th rounder had me with serious doubts. Then I went ahead and did what you should have and looked up Hudson. He was supposed to be a 1st round draft pick or even 2nd rounder but had a bit of a disappointing season leading up to the draft. It was known as the steal of the draft when LA got him in the 4th round. Now he plays on one of college hockey's best teams and is tearing it up point production wise and also was one of the top players on the US juniors team. People compare him to Dustin Brown and David Backes. Not too bad.... The other guy Deslauriers is a converted D man. He's in his first season as a winger and is all ready leading his AHL team in goals... He could be good or he could just be an AHL'r but he has great upside.
Onto your Moulson and Regier comments. The market was completely different this year... No one was getting anything for pending free agents... Look what the Islanders got for Vanek!! Two second round picks for him was great and who knows we could still sign him in the offseason. Halak didn't want to be here. He looked like he just saw someone get hit by a car when he got traded here. He wasn't resigning. We get a younger goalie whose under contract for another year that Enroth can compete with. If he sucks so what? We weren't going to be good next year anyway and we can regroup on goalies after next year.

I wouldn't call a 2nd and a B grade prospect max value for Molson.

Agree, but I am still happy with the return for Moulson. 2 2nds= a late first anyway, so we got first rd. value. On the other hand, the Isles got hosed for Vanek.
